Matthew J. Currell
Dr Currell is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering at RMIT University, Melbourne Australia. He received his PhD from Monash University, on the use of environmental isotope tracers to assess sustainability of groundwater usage rates and controls on groundwater quality in a water-stressed region of northern China. He teaches hydrogeology, geochemistry and groundwater modelling to environmental and civil engineering students, and supervises Masters and PhD projects in applied hydrogeology research. He has been awarded over half a million dollars in research funding over the last five years as a lead chief investigator, supporting projects that are examining groundwater sustainability and contamination issues. He has published more than 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and is on the editorial board for Hydrogeology Journal. He has also acted as an independent expert witness on hydrogeological matters in the Victorian State Parliament and elsewhere
